The question is to find the right Pub for you, your family and your friends.
You will find bars, pubs and night clubs spread through entire city, with a fair number located in the Meia Praia, some at the Marina, others in the older part of town inside the historic centre, and you will find quite a selection in Praia da Luz, and a few others in Barão de São João, Bensafrim and Odiaxere.
Inside the Old Town, some of the bars cater for families staying in the hotels or guesthouses nearby. Close to the Cultural Center there are a few bars that attract a wider age group. Most of tem offer you a relaxed atmosphere, then in some side streets you will find the more livelier bars, and you even find some bigger disco bars that attract the younger crowd that lingers until the early hours of the morning (or until the sun comes up) partying the night away and enjoying the latest musical sounds.
The other area of nightlife in council area of Lagos is found in Praia da Luz.
There are three main types of bars here, traditional English Pubs, disco bars, and live music bars. Many of the venues have live music that ranges from acoustic music to the full band sound. There are also many karaoke bars for those who like to sing along!
Most bars show all the major sporting events, especially English premier league football and most have large screen TVs.
If you just feel like a beer, or a light drink, you are sure to find a nice little cosy bar out of the main areas, some of these lovely bars have magnificent sea views, and most will have entertainment.
If you decide to try something really different look out for a traditional Portuguese Fado night. There are some venues that offer this type of entertainment on a weekly basis.
Fado is the traditional Portuguese folk music and is popular with both locals and tourists alike, so it's never difficult to find one, singers are accompanied by traditional guitar instruments.
After the bars close (mostly around 2h00am), if you're still in the mood for a dance you can visit on of the town's nightclubs, they are open until late (4h00am). Some play the usual club music, while some play salsa and Latino music. In the high season these clubs get really busy.
