I have lived in many places along the years, but the Algarve holds a special place in my heart. I love this region, and I love living in Lagos. Lagos is a town that has embraced me and welcomed me with open arms - a town that I have made my own since December 2009.

Portugal, is a country with a long history, it is home to several ancient architectural structures, as well as typical art, furniture and literary collections mirroring and chronicling the events that shaped the country and its peoples. It has a large number of cultural landmarks ranging from museums to ancient church buildings to medieval castles, which testify its rich national cultural heritage.

You have had enough of long-working hours and you need a break. I am sure that like most of us you searched the Net looking for ideas, but you are stuck about what should you include in this breakaway trip. We are here to help. If you’re not yet bursting with ideas and plans, here are some helpful suggestions of some of the best things to do while on vacation in Algarve.

Irrespective of where you are staying in the Algarve, after booking into your accommodation venue, the next you should do is invest in a car-rental, because the best way to see the Algarve during 7 days is by car. If you don’t like to drive yourself in a foreign country, then the alternative is to rent a car with a driver.

Now that we are leaving the winter beyond us, and the beginning of spring is upon us, I look out of my window and I see a carpet of beautiful white and light pink flowers, on trees with hardly any leaves. The air is fragrant with a light perfume. It is peaceful; I feel I’m living a dream.

Like all nations, Portugal has its fair share of New Year’s Eve and New Year’s welcoming traditions, and if you happen to be in Lagos or even in the Algarve for New Year, you are sure to witness some of them. So, what can you expect to see, ear and experience?

One of the nice things about taking a dolphin watching boat trip is the opportunity to photograph them in their natural habitat, but there are a few challenges that you need to know about. Like with any photographic expedition, you need to have the right angle, and right conditions to really get that great shot that you can enjoy for many years to come.
