The main house has a central corridor, living room, dining room, fully equipped kitchen with D/W and utility room, three bedrooms ( 2 double, 1 twin), all with en suite bathrooms (2 with bath, 1 with shower). Sat-TV, CD-player, heating. Suitable for 6 people.
The main house, was restored to its former manor-like glory, features Moorish style doors and windows, parquet flooring, antique furniture and rugs, stylish bathrooms and a splendid roof terrace with sweeping views of the ocean and the hill country,«a serra» as they call it. Original terra cotta tiles clad the floors; antique azulejos depicting animals and flowers grace the walls in kitchen and bathrooms. Bread is still baked in the old oven, which once roasted twelve piglets to celebrate a village wedding.
The old cashier room became a stylish dining room and through the wrought iron bars on the window you may catch a glimpse of the shepherd and his flock as they go past the winding old cart track. In summer, thanks to high ceilings and fans the house remains wonderfully cool and in wintertime a wood burning art nouveau style stove keeps the kitchen cozy while heaters ensure a pleasant temperature in the other rooms.
The large south-facing palm garden,«o jardim das palmeiras», with sweeping views of the beaches and the sea, offers tranquil space for afternoon tea, sundowners, a festive meal or simply that peaceful corner for a quiet chat or some thrilling reading.
At the back, near the kitchen, cobbled terraces surround beds of English roses and are convenient for outdoor dining. The Algarve midday sun virtually all year round beckons to “al fresco” lunching.
